I have called Alaska my home for more than 45 years. My brother and I were raised by my single mother who at times, worked three jobs to support us. She taught both of us that we could be anything we wanted as long as we worked hard enough. She also taught us to hunt and fish at a very early age. I grew up in Anchorage until I moved to Wasilla in 1978. I graduated from Wasilla High School in 1985 and moved back to Anchorage in 1988. I purchased my home in Mountain View in 1990.
I started working at the age of 15 while I was still in school and have worked more than one job, most of my life. I started my first business, Sanctuary Stained Glass, in 2000. I create stained glass artwork for residential and commercial clients although my main passion is the artwork I’m able to create for churches. It’s rewarding creating something using the same methods that were used hundreds of years ago and knowing yours will last that long also.
I started my second business, Sanctuary Landscaping in 2002. My husband and I are lucky to be doing what we love and consider most of our clients “our very good friends”.
I am quick to help my neighbors who may need me but believe in respecting everyone’s right to run their own lives. I decided to run for State House after hearing my neighbors voice their concerns about the problems in our neighborhood. In the same breath they would exclaim “well, there’s not much you can do about it”. I’ve never been one to sit on the sidelines and watch things happen. I want to be the voice of the people in my district. I’ve worked hard my whole life and I will work just as hard to make sure the needs of our diverse community are not forgotten.
