When it comes to fish and game management, the federal government does not share Alaskan’s values. Alaska is the only state that is prohibited from managing its own fish and game wildlife. Alaskans are more knowledgeable and better equipped to make the decisions needed to protect this valuable resource.
The Alaska Constitution and Federal law protect a subsistence priority. This is an issue not talked about enough and we must begin having a thoughtful dialog between all personal users of our fish and wildlife as competition increases between users of these diminishing resources creating an unnecessary and destructive competition among Alaskans.
